Every business school tries to do a bit of everything. You all have a centre for this, a centre for that, every specialty imaginable. I understand why, you need and want to be all things to all people. What if the business school of the future specialised in just one area or approach and explored that one area from different perspectives? This could be a particular industry such as mining, a discipline such as marketing, an approach or framework such as circular economy. Research, partnerships, degrees would all focus on that one area. While some faculty and students would be focused at that institution, many would come in on rotation, spending a certain amount of time physically or virtually enrolled in the school. Students could also go to several different schools to get specialties in different areas. This also means that these institutions, by bringing together the best of what is happening in particular fields, can really work to push the field forwards and train future graduates to do the same.
