During my MBA we didn’t question the purpose of business. We didn’t question anything really related to business, and we certainly didn’t question our degree or the business sector in general. This may be mentioned in an ethics class but even that is often a side note, a needle in a hay stack. Perhaps the whole purpose of a business degree isn’t to learn marketing, finance or accounting but to question the purpose of business in society in the first place. To explore where it stands, the benefits of that, the problems, its role and impacts, often far reaching. If not a degree, perhaps a required course that is given the same importance as a finance or marketing course (and is NOT added to the ethics class…).
