There was once a time where new generations were taught by multiple generations. The lessons weren’t just focused on multiplication and textbooks. These were packaged with life lessons, lessons about the world around us. Thanks to COVID-19, as we hop in and out of home schooling at all levels, perhaps it is time to think how we could re-engage multiple generations in teaching the next generation. Rethink what is taught by current faculty and what other lessons could be “taught” in different ways with different individuals including practitioners, retirees etc. So rather than a faculty member teaching topics they are not experts in, they frame the topic as a whole and then engage multiple individuals to explore topics within.
