A network is a group of individuals or schools that come together around a common theme. They pay for the privilege of being a member and then receive a number of resources and perks in return as well as the opportunity to connect with others who have also joined the network. In practice, however, many networks don’t do a particularly good job at actually connecting individuals and encouraging those connections to become influential initiatives. What about switching things around? Instead of networks with members, have networks of projects, where individuals can sign up to join individual projects in different capacities (observer, contributor, leader, communicator etc.). Projects would need to be accepted/vetted by the community and include a mix of stakeholders, in particular the participation of groups that would use the research.
