Although not a course from a business programme, perhaps this is something business degrees should be exploring. The University of Arizona has a Curriculum on Medical Ignorance. The premise behind the course is that there are a lot of things that we don’t know about the fields that we are in. Rather than assume we have all the answers, it looks at training students to ask the right questions. This includings questioning what is already known, and the history and development of selected ideas and methods. The course aims to improve the ability of students to recognise and deal productively with ignorance, uncertainty and the unknown; questioning critically and creatively focusing on raising, listening to, analyzing, prioritizing, and answering questions from different points of view. Students are also asked to discuss their failures.
